In just three years, Women in Philanthropy of Sarasota has grown from an idea into one of the Suncoast’s most effective giving organizations, with more than 300 members, a growing waitlist, and over $650,000 in total charitable contributions. What sets the group apart is its structure: it is 100% volunteer-led with no paid staff, so the money raised goes to the community rather than overhead. Members feed families, partner with local nonprofits, volunteer their time, and honor the women leaders who paved the way.
On November 7, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., the organization hosts its largest event of the year, the Grand Soirée on the Bay. Co-founders Kris Ravenscroft and Margaret Wise, along with board member Jourdan Reinhart, describe the evening as both a celebration of what the group has accomplished and a doorway for newcomers who want to get involved. The organization’s work centers on three principles: community, integrity, and education, with a special focus on mentoring the next generation of purpose-driven donors.
For anyone in the Gulf Coast beach communities looking for a way to give back that goes beyond a one-time check, this is a group worth knowing. Snowbirds, retirees, and year-round residents alike are welcome to learn more ahead of the November 7 event. Have you found a local cause that makes your giving feel like it truly lands? Tell us about it in the comments.
