The U.S. Department of Justice has agreed to pay $11 million to settle a lawsuit involving Fort Campbell’s Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. The case stems from a September 11, 2021 delivery where medical staff allegedly failed to respond to hours of fetal distress. The child, now 4 years old, suffered a permanent brain injury and lives with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and cortical visual impairment. She cannot walk or sit without support, receives nutrition through a feeding tube, and requires around-the-clock nursing care.</
