A family is mourning an unimaginable loss after a late-night crash in Anchorage, Alaska. Twenty-three-year-old Kylie Hoogendorn was driving her GMC Sierra just after midnight on July 28 when she struck a light pole. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two children were in the vehicle with her. Her 4-year-old daughter was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and passed away on July 30. Her 1-year-old son survived but suffered injuries to his legs.
The Anchorage Police Department has confirmed Hoogendorn was driving and says the crash remains under investigation. In a statement, family members shared their heartbreak: “We are heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Kylie, who loved her two babies with her whole heart. Her love, kindness, and beautiful spirit touched everyone who knew her.”
A GoFundMe has been created to support the family as they cope with funeral costs and care for the surviving little boy.
