Mothers Helping Mothers is bringing its 2nd Annual Community in Motion 5K/1M/Fitness event to the Sarasota Polo Club on Sunday, October 4, 2026. The morning runs from 8 to 11:30 a.m., with doors open 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., and it’s built for every pace and every age: a 5K run, a 1-mile walk, a FlyDance Fitness class, a vendor village, music, and family-friendly activities throughout. The event is presented in partnership with local wellness brand LeLa V, founded by ultra marathoner, entrepreneur, and author Erika Reyes.
The celebration comes with real momentum behind it. MHM recently received a $550,000 three-year grant from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation to support its Building Strong: Advancing Family Resiliency & Stability initiative, which serves families in Sarasota and Manatee counties. The organization has operated on the Suncoast for 36 years and is staffed entirely by volunteers, with no salaries paid.
Reyes says supporting MHM is personal for her, and she describes the event as a way for the community to show up for one another so no mother or child faces their struggles alone. For local families, it’s a chance to start a Sunday with movement and end it knowing they helped a neighbor. Will we see you at the Polo Club on October 4?
