James Farthing, the 51-year-old Kentucky man who won a $167 million Powerball jackpot last year, was arrested Monday on domestic violence charges. According to court records, the victim reported that a verbal argument turned physical, and Farthing allegedly strangled her. Marks were visible on the woman’s neck. He appeared in court Tuesday, pleaded not guilty, and was ordered to wear a monitoring device with no contact with the victim.
This marks Farthing’s fourth arrest since his massive lottery win. Previous charges include battery in Florida, intimidation in Scott County, and burglary charges in March. His bond was set at $15,000, and his next hearing is scheduled for August 27. The judge stated the bond decision was based on his charges and risk level.
