A youth football championship game turned deadly Sunday night in Madison, Illinois, when a shooting near Madison Senior High School left one person dead and three others injured. The gunfire broke out around 9:50 p.m. during a game that was not organized or sponsored by the school district. Three victims were taken to hospitals, and the fourth died at the scene.
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is leading the investigation, and Lt. Andrew Pierson is asking anyone who was in the crowd to come forward. “Someone in that crowd saw something, recorded something, or has heard something since,” he said. Even a single photo, a short video, or one small detail could move the case forward. Tips can be directed to the command post at 618-709-7750 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477. The Madison school district canceled Monday classes and will resume Wednesday with counseling available for students and staff.
