A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper proved that sometimes the best detective work happens on social media. Last Sunday, the trooper spotted a red Corvette doing a burnout and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Devin Jackson, sped off through Memphis, running red lights and weaving through traffic before successfully evading the trooper.
But the chase wasn’t over. Instead of closing the case, the trooper searched Facebook and found a profile matching Jackson’s description, complete with photos of the same red Corvette. Armed with the new information, authorities tracked down Jackson and arrested him on multiple charges, including evading arrest, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving. The incident happened on July 26 in the Memphis area, but the story has captured attention nationwide as a classic example of modern police work.
It’s a cautionary tale for anyone who thinks they can get away with reckless behavior behind the wheel — or online.
