AUTHORITIES HAVE IDENTIFIED THE BODY FOUND EARLY TUESDAY MORNING IN A CANAL NEAR PRINEVILLE STREET AND CORDOBA AVENUE IN PORT CHARLOTTE, BUT THEY ARE STILL WITHHOLDING THE NAME PENDING NOTIFICATION OF THE NEXT OF KIN. THE MAN’S BODY WAS FOUND BY A RESIDENT JUST BEFORE 11AM AS IT WAS SURROUNDED BY ALLIGATORS. IT WAS REMOVED FROM THE CANAL AT AROUND 3:30PM. DEPUTIES BELIEVE THE BODY WAS IN THE WATER FOR SEVERAL DAYS PRIOR TO BEING FOUND, BUT THEY WILL AWAIT AUTOPSY RESULTS BEFORE DETERMINING EXACTLY HOW LONG AND RULING ON THE EXACT CAUSE OF DEATH. DEPUTIES DID CONFIRM THE MAN LIVED IN A HOMELESS CAMP NEARBY.
