JACK-KNIFED TRACTOR TRAILER SNARLES TRAFFIC

AN INDIANA WOMAN WAS CITED BY TROOPERS AFTER CAUSING AN ACCIDENT THAT SNARLED TRAFFIC IN GULF COVE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.  THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 63 YEAR OLD MARJORIE BUNTING OF DAGSBORO, INDIANA WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON DAVID BOULEVARD APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION WITH SOUTH MCCALL ROAD JUST AFTER 1:30PM.  TROOPERS SAY SHE FAILED TO STOP AT THE STOP SIGN AND HIT A TRACTOR-TRAILER THAT WAS DRIVEN BY 44 YEAR OLD MICHAEL DARYN OF FORT MYERS.  THE TRUCK JACK-KNIFED ON THE ROADWAY, AND THE IMPACT RUPTURED THE DIESEL TANKS ON THE TRUCK SPILLING FUEL ON SOUTH MCCALL.  BUNTING WAS AIRLIFTED TO LEE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN SERIOUS CONDITION.  DARYN AND TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN HIS TRUCK WERE NOT INJURED.  TRAFFIC WAS BLOCKED ON WESTBOUND SOUTH MCCALL FOR OVER TWO HOURS WHILE HAZMAT CREWS CLEANED UP THE SPILLED FUEL AND REMOVED THE TRUCK FROM THE ROADWAY.  BUNTING WAS CITED BY TROOPERS FOR VIOLATION OF THE RIGHT OF WAY FROM A STOP SIGN.
