A FORT MYERS MAN IS BEHIND BARS TODAY THANKS IN PART TO A PASSERBY WHO STOPPED TO HELP DETAIN HIM ON THE HIGHWAY.  SARASOTA COUNTY DEPUTIES SAY THEY WERE CALLED TO UNIVERSITY PARKWAY AND I-75 JUST BEFORE 11AM SATURDAY, AND WHEN THEY ARRIVED THEY FOUND THE VICTIM AND THE GOOD SAMARITAN HOLDING 20 YEAR OLD MICHAEL DONALDSON JR.  HE IS ACCUSED OF ATTACKING THE VICTIM AFTER HE GOT A RIDE FROM HIM AT THE SIESTA INN ON NORTH TAMIAMI TRAIL.  ONCE THE TWO GOT INTO THE VICTIM’S VEHICLE, DONALDSON REPORTEDLY PULLED A GUN AND TOLD HIM TO DRIVE TO THE INTERSTATE.  THE VICTIM FOUGHT BACK BEFORE THEY ENTERED THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MEDIAN.  THEY TWO MEN THEN TOOK THE FIGHT OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE BEFORE THE PASSERBY INTERVENED AND HELPED THE VICTIM SUBDUE DONALDSON.  HE WAS CHARGED WITH KIDNAPPING, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, AND POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON, AND HE WAS WANTED ON OUTSTANDING WARRANTS OUT OF LEE COUNTY.  HE WAS TAKEN TO THE SARASOTA COUNTY JAIL AND THE INVESTIGATION WAS TURNED OVER TO THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT.
