PAT NEWTON, A MEMBER OF THE WFLN FAMILY AND A PILLAR IN THE ENGLEWOOD COMMUNITY, LOST HER BATTLE WITH MENENGITIS ON CHRISTMAS EVE. SHE WAS 55. NEWTON WAS THE CO-OWNER OF THE ENGLEWOOD REVIEW WITH HER HUSBAND TOM, AND SHE ALSO OWNED PITTER PAT FACE PAINTING, WHICH WAS A LIFELONG LOVE OF HERS. NEWTON WAS STRICKEN WITH THE DISEASE EARLY THIS YEAR, WHICH IS AN INFLAMMATION OF THE PROTECTIVE MEMBRANES COVERING THE BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD. SHE WAS FIRST TREATED IN ST. PETERSBURG AND HAD BEEN AT A SARASOTA REHAB FACILITY FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS. NEWTON WAS THE FIRST HOST OF THE WFLN PROGRAM “ALL ABOUT WOMEN” WHICH HAS BEEN ON THE AIR SINCE 2005. A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD THURSDAY AT 2PM AT THE ENGLEWOOD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH AT 700 EAST DEARBORN STREET. THE FAMILY ASKS THAT MEMORIAL DONATIONS BE MADE IN PAT’S NAME TO CIRCUS SARASOTA/LAUGHTER UNLIMITED, 8251 15TH STREET EAST IN SARASOTA 34243.
