MEMBERS OF THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE RAISE FUNDS EVERY YEAR FOR 80-100 SECOND TO FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS TO GO SHOPPING WITH A DEPUTY DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON, BUT THIS YEAR FUNDS ARE RUNNING A BIT SHORT.  THE SHOP WITH A COP PROGRAM WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 3-4:30PM AT VARIOUS CHARLOTTE COUNTY WAL-MARTS THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF DECEMBER, BUT THE SHORTFALL MEANS THAT ABOUT FORTY LESS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE THIS YEAR.  THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE’S HUMAN RESOURCE DIVISION HAS SCHEDULED TWO FUND RAISING EVENTS WITH ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO SHOP WITH A COP.  ONE IS A HALLOWEEN/FALL BAKE SALE AT THE SHERIFF’S ADMINISTRATION BUILDING CAFETERIA ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27TH.  EMPLOYEES ARE ASKED TO BRING CAKES, CUPCAKES, COOKIES, AND PIES, ANYTHING WITH A HALLOWEEN OR FALL THEME FOR THE BAKE SALE.  THE SECOND FUND RAISER WILL BE A BREAKFAST BUFFET ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH FROM 7:30-10AM ALSO IN THE ADMIN CAFETERIA.  BOTH EVENTS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  ANYONE IN THE COMMUNITY THAT WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A DONATION TO HELP SPONSOR A CHILD, PLEASE CONTACT DALE PHILLIPS, CRIME PREVENTION SPECIALIST, AT 258-3947.  THOSE THAT DONATE $100 DOLLARS OR MORE WILL RECEIVE A SPECIAL SHERIFF’S OFFICE COMMUNITY PARTNER CHALLENGE COIN.
