CHARLOTTE COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIR BOB STARR REITERATED WHAT HE SAID TWO WEEKS AGO ON TUESDAY…THAT EMBATTLED DISTRICT THREE COMMISSIONER ROBERT SKIDMORE SHOULD STEP DOWN.  BUT THIS TIME HE DID IT WITH SKIDMORE PRESENT AT THE COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING, AND THERE WERE OVER TWENTY RESIDENTS WHO ALSO CALLED FOR SKIDMORE TO RESIGN.  FOR HIS PART, SKIDMORE SAT BACK AND WATCHED AS THE PROCEEDINGS TOOK PLACE, AND HE SAID AFTERWARD THAT HE HAS NO INTENTION OF GOING ANYWHERE UNLESS DIRECTED BY GOVERNOR RICK SCOTT.  THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES INTO ALLEGATIONS THAT SKIDMORE SEXUALLY HARASSED COUNTY EMPLOYEES AND OFFERED BRIBES TO HAVE CONTRACTS DIRECTED TOWARDS FRIENDS OF HIS.  THERE WAS ALSO THE POLICE CALL IN LATE MAY WHERE HE AND A LONG TIME FRIEND ALLEGEDLY GOT INTO A PHYSICAL ALTERCATION.  THE STATE ATTORNEY’S OFFICE LATER DETERMINED THAT NO CHARGES WOULD BE FILED IN THAT CASE.
