A BRADENTON MAN WAS ARRESTED AFTER A TROOPER SAW HIM SPEEDING ON THE INTERSTATE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS THEY TRIED TO STOP A 2003 BUICK CAR NEAR THE LAUREL ROAD EXIT, BUT THE DRIVER, RHOAN DRUMMOND, REFUSED TO STOP AND CONTINUED NORTHBOUND. DRUMMOND PARTIALLY ENTERED THE MEDIAN AND COLLIDED WITH A CONSTRUCTION BARREL BUT KEPT GOING UNTIL THE 203 MILE MARKER, WHEN HE SURRENDERED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THERE WERE THREE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR ALONG WITH FORTY POUNDS OF MARIJUANA AND SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS CASH. DRUMMOND WAS TAKEN TO THE SARASOTA COUNTY JAIL ON NUMEROUS CHARGES INCLUDING FLEEING TO ELUDE, DRIVING WHILE HIS LICENSE WAS REVOLKED, AND CHILD ENDANGERMENT. THE CHILDREN WERE TURN OVER TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.
