SIX PEOPLE WERE INJURED IN A MULTIPLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN OSPREY THAT CAUSED TRAFFIC TO BACK UP FOR A TIME ON SATURDAY.  PUBLISHED REPORTS SAY A FORD MUSTANG CROSSED OVER THE MEDIAN ON US 41 AND HIT AN ONCOMING CAR HEAD-ON THAT WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND NEAR HAPPY HAVEN DRIVE.  TWO OF THE INJURED HAD TO BE AIRLIFTED TO BAYFRONT MEDICAL CENTER IN ST. PETERSBURG, WHILE FOUR OTHERS WERE TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO AREA HOSPITALS.  NO NAMES OR CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN RELEASED BY THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL.  TRAFFIC IN THE AREA BETWEEN OSPREY AND VENICE WAS BLOCKED FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR AS AUTHORITIES TRIED TO COORDINATE THE LANDING OF THE HELICOPTERS AND THE ARRIVAL OF AMBULANCES.
