A homecoming block party in Vienna, Georgia, turned deadly early Sunday morning when gunfire broke out at a celebration with more than 1,000 people in attendance. Two men, ages 20 and 23, were killed, and around 35 people were injured, with 25 taken to hospitals, according to officials. The shooting happened around 1:25 a.m. while deputies were already monitoring the large crowd.
Investigators say shots were fired at at least 50 people in two locations about a block apart, complicating the search for whoever is responsible. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office, and the victims’ families have been notified, though the men have not been publicly identified.
